MY QUESTIONS IS THE SAME WHAT IS THE BEST HARD DRIVE EXTERNAL (USB OR FIREWIRE) ????
I HAVE ALREDY 2 HARD DRIVES BUT I NEED I NEW ONE I FIND THE MAXTOR 40 GB EXTERNAL 5400 RPM USB (2.0) or
MAXTOR 80 GB EXTERNAL ? FIREWIRE ?
WICH ONE IS BETTER TO SAVE VIDEO,MUSIC ,ETC and to work![]()

They both have the speed needed to do what you want, in this case I'd go for the firewire only because it's bigger.

firewire with 7200 rpm...I don't believe USB will permit the transfer rate that video demands.

USB 2.0 has a theoretical transfer rate that's faster than Firewire, as long as you have a USB 2.0 controller in the computer. Not that you'll get the theoretical transfer rate of either USB 2.0 or Firewire with a cheap external drive, they're just UDMA drives with a bridge controller. The best you can do is slightly less than standard IDE speeds.
It would be wise to do some research, a few months back I saw that some of these external drive boxes were still using UDMA/33 bridge controllers.
