  1. Hmm, I have Dazzle DVC USB, and using the external view thing to record on vhs...

anyone here know exactly what formats it will accept? or if I can somehow make it accept different kinds of formats (mpeg2 for example)

  2. Wedge,

The DVC USB is only compatible with MPEG-1 files only. It does not have the on board hardware to handle MPEG-2.

Now, as for what rez's it can handle. I never thought to try anything other than 352x240, which is it's capture rez.

    Sod out...

  3. *screams in frustration*

I tried a mpeg-1 at 352x240 it played fine in it's player, but would only do audio when I tried the tv out feature... it was working fine cuz I tried other files at the same time and they showed up perfectly. *sigh*

  4. The DVC out only worked correctly for me when I captured and edited the clip with the Dazzle software. If I edited the clip in Ulead VideoStudio 4 or MediaStudio 6, like adding scrolling titles, etc. then the DVC out always had screwed up audio sync, the image would be jerky/choppy and just plain bad.

I had several email exchanges with Dazzle Tech. Support when I first got the DVC and we went around and around about capture bit rates, editing with MainActor (which I tried and crashed so often I got a refund for that...long story) but it finally came down to that the DVC out just didn't work right.

The only editing software that seemed to work with DVC out was VideoStudio 3 but that had other issues like hanging the PC when the Dazzle clip was being edited.

I finally gave up on the DVC out and used a Video converter box between the PC monitor and the VCR. I ended up playing the video full screen on the PC and then recorded the video with that. Not the ideal solution but it worked.
