XVCD poll

I'd like to hear from all you XVCD guys on what you use for settings. I did some testing/reading and it seems that moving the bit rate from 1150 to 2500 with 352x240 res looks really good. But I don't think it will even fit on 3 CD's. Uping the res just makes the picture look pixelated when fast motion is on.
Here is what I'm settleing on

XVCD 352x240
Automatic VBR 0-min 2500-max
High Quailty
interlace
force picture type settings
Audio 224k

Or is 2500 bit rate over kill?
What can I change?

usually i just use the vcd template settings on TMPGEnc and change the resolution to 720x480 and lower the audio bitrate to about 128 ...from there i just play with the video bitrate till it will fit on 2 disks......i do this when encoding full length movies (aprox 1.5-2 hrs). the quality usually comes out pretty good...and its much clearer than doing it at 352x240 hopefully ur dvd player can read it at that setting

For xVCD I like 352x480, 2pass VBR (900,ave,2500) with an aveage around 1300~2100, motion search to high, interlace. That's for DivX and other poor source stuff. From DVD it's all SVCD (multipass VBR ave=1500~2100kbit)

Sampling Frequency: 48000Hz (takes less time with dvd2avi this way)

I've used 2500k/s and it looks great. The stuff I work with is a touch over 24 minutes though so I just use 3500k/s. No big jump in quality but since I'm just putting one episode on a disc anyway I figure why not fill it up. It takes about the same time to encode and I can spare the extra minute and a half of burning time.

I like thr 720x480 resolution but when anything moves it looks bad, moving to 352x240 it doesn't seem to do that.

One other thing, how do you know whats going to fit on a CD and how do you break it up?
I used the calc here, 90 min. 2/74 min CD's= 1984 bit rate.
Now how do you know where to break it?

Ok here are my settings (I'm in love with my settings!)

my example here is a 1.5 hr DivX at 608x352

I convert the audio to wav with dbPowerAmp !!

then these are my TMPGEnc settings

1:1 source aspect ratio
4:3 output aspect ratio

resolution 352x480
2 Pass VBR 1900ave 2350max 400min
Motion Search: Normal (yes normal!!)
keep the frame rate the same
uncheck "detect scene change"

audio 224 but done with tooLAME

you can go higher but why bother - the 3 disk method is hardly worth the time - this 2 disk method for your normal 1.5 hour movie produces great results! 2500 bitrate (not worth it to give up the space) setting motion search above normal (hardly notice the difference and not worth the extra 10 hours processing time)
