  2. Hey Hoss you can do a search "DVD-RW vs +RW" on this forum and you will get all the info you need. This question is like throwing a match on gasoline. As far as the Sony DD, You cannot read the 1.3G disk in any other drive but the DD writer. Not a valuable format. Sony has plenty of money to go off and develop stuff that not many people would buy(i.e. Memorystick, mini-disk) and is compatible with existing H/W.

And that would be an understatement. The vitriol that can fly on this topic exceed anything you'll ever see on the Jerry Springer show.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

I belive this guide will answer your questions: http://www.anandtech.com/guides/viewfaq.html?i=118
I myself will go with regular DVD-R and DVD-RW for the time being. The drives that support the DVD+ stuff is like twice as expensive than normal DVD burner which are already expensive as It is.And I don't belive It's that signifagant of a difference between the two to justify the much higher price.

As for the 1.3 GB CD-Rs,talk about a big waste of time and money. If they worked with current CD-RW drives It would be cool but they don't.And the drive that is required to burn them along with the DVD-RWs themselves, are all about the same price of DVDs.So I say to hell with It,just buy a DVD-RW drive

In August, some people will be able to have both DVD+R/+RW and DVD-R/-RW drives for under $500.

It took only about a quarter for the lowest price of 2x DVD-R/1x DVD-RW drives to fall from $400 to $230 and for the lowest price of 2.4x DVD+R/2.4x DVD+RW drives to fall from $500 to $290.

    Pioneer DVR-104 (2x DVD-R): $235
    Ricoh RW5120A (2.4x DVD+RW, 12/10/32 CD-RW): $200 or so
