I want to get a capture tool with a/v in ports, so I can back up old VHS tapes from my VCR and whatnot. Should I get a specific PCI card or some other external device?

Try the Pinnacle Studio DC10+ PCI capture card. It's great for capturing high-quality analogue video from VHS tapes.

Also watch out for the Hauppauge PCI cards. They are cheap and with virtualdub they can do miracles!

Now, if I wanted to capture video from a camcorder too, would you guys still go with the Hauppauge PCI cards or Pinnacle Studio DC10+ PCI capture cards, or is there something else I should be looking for? Keep in mind that I'm on a tight budget $100-150. And for the Hauppauge cards, can all models capture video, or just the one which advertises how it acts as a VCR? Or do I need a third party software?
