  1. Just bought an All In Wonder Radeon and fairly new to tv tuner cards etc . Its a bit of a silly question but i hope someone can help me out.

    I have a soundblaster live card installed and i was looking at the AIW instructions and its saying rather than externally connect the AIW to the SB Live i can do it internally . Now on the SB Live it has one CD In socket which a cable from my cd-rom is plugged into . If i remove the plug from the cd-rom and put it in the AIW will that work or would it cause major problems . And do i actually need to connect the SB & AIW at all ? Its a minor question but one thats niggling me a bit !!!!

    Also does anyone in the uk know where i can buy another cable like this ?

    Many many thanks all,

    Jon

  2. If your SB card is relatevely new, it should have other internal connectors like CD IN, usually named AUX IN and TAD IN.
    In this case you can connect the AIW to the SB AUX IN with a cable like the one used by CD. It should be available in any computer shop.
    Then you have to open the mixer and add the AUX source in the lists of playback and recording volume controls.
    Be careful that MMC (at least previous versions) always resets the recording audio input to LINE IN when it initializes the card.

    If you don't have the AUX IN connector you can only connect the LINE OUT of AIW to the external LINE IN of SB with the mini jack cable that comes with AIW package.

    Hope it helps

  3. Just thinking out loud here.

    Look at the registry entries, specifically the line I boldfaced:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI Technologies\Multimedia\Features\TV\Sound]
    "SAP Mode"=dword:00000000
    "Mute"=dword:00000000
    "Volume"=dword:000003e8
    "AudioIn"=dword:00000002
    "Record Volume"=dword:000003e8
    "IsFirstRun"=dword:00000000
    "User RecVol"=dword:00000001

    I haven't fiddled with it, but it might be that if you change that dword value from 2 to something else (perhaps 0 or 1 or 3, etc) it might automatically pick another input (rather than line in) for play and record for TV when the TV app starts. This may be the same audio input that you choose when you first configure the TV app after installation in that little scroll box.
    As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
