    So, is there a way to convert MPEG2 BACK to quicktime or some other format?

    On both Mac and Windows, use Quicktime 6 Pro with the MPEG-2 decoder plug-in to convert to a selection of Quicktime codecs, or MPEG-approved MPEG-4.
