    Can you make a Video CD autorun upon insertion? Is it possible to make it so that when you put it in the drive it launches into the default DVD player WITHOUT interfering with the normal operation in a set-top DVD player?

  2. Well, I'm not sure about autolunching to your default DVD player, but...
    You can use any player you want, store it on the VCD, and put an Autorun.inf on the CD, which will lunch that player

    Where do you place programs on the VCD? In the root folder? Will a normal set-top DVD player "ignore" those non-video files?

  4. The autorun guide is at http://www.vcdhelp.com/autorun.htm

    I helped with the guide at the bottom - I add an autorun.inf and a _play.asx file with EZCD5 (crap software) by using the "abstract" and "bibliography" file selections which puts them in the root directory. Thus this method will use Windows Media Player to play the movie & not the DVD software. You can handcraft a custom autorun.inf file to start your DVD player but it may be custom to your PC. Try the following autorun.inf

    [autorun]
    open = myDVDsoftwareProggie.exe

    You may have to play with it or feed it the mpeg file etc.
