If you follow the above link I am stuck on 'chapter' encoding.... stage 2.
I have already completed the whole process successfully before, but now when it says........
Press load and load the file which in the Template directory of TMPGenc.
If the video source fps is 29,970 load VideoCD (NTSC).mcf
If the video source fps is 23,970 load VideoCD (NTSCFilm).mcf
If the video source fps is 25,000 load VideoCD (PAL).mcf
If the video source fps is anything else else just load NTSC if you live in US or Japan and PAL if you live anywhere else.
I cant find the template directory of TMPGenc, the directory i get when i press load is temp. I have done a search for the folder and cant find it!!!!!!
Anyone know where it is stored on the computer when its installed, before it automatically went to that folder.

When you downloaded TMPGEnc its a zip file, if you right click (Winzip) and select install to c:\tmpg.. etc it would have created the folder "Template" if however you just unpacked everything into the same folder, then your templates are in there with the extension .mcf
VideoCD (PAL).mcf VideoCD (NTSC).mcf etc etc -
Right click on the TMPGenc icon on your desktop and select properties. On the following screen select "find target" this will take you to the installation folder. The template folder is in there.

ok many thanks how do i creat a shortcut to my desktop, at the moment the icon is still in winzip, and every time i want to use tmpgenc, i have to unzip it, how do i keep the program open and create a shortcut please.
p.s. sorry if the question is basic
Also i downloaded a nero encoder plugin and was told that if i simply drag and drop into either the svcd or vcd screen it encodes much quicker and at a better quality than tmpgenc, has anyone used thjis plugin? -

OK, that is your problem right there. You have never actually installed TMPGEnc on your system. You are running it from within the ZiP archive file.
If you are using WinMe or WinXP, go to the ZiP file, right click it, then choose Extract... When the Extraction wizard appears, choose a directory/folder on your system to save all contents of the ZiP file in. Remember where you saved those files. Now use Windows Explorer or My Computer to browse to that directory. Once there you will see an icon labeled "TMPGEnc.exe", right click and drag it to your desktop or the START button. If you put it on your desktop, choose create new shortcut. If you dropped it on your START button, it will appear in the Quick Start Menu.
or...
If you are using Win95 or Win98, and have WinZip installed, just follow these instructions:

It sounds like you are running the tmpgenc program file from within the zip file. You need to extract all the files from within the zip file to your hard drive. Open the zip file select all of the files then extract them to a directory on your hard drive, call it tmpgenc. When you extract it will place the templates in a subdirectory of tmpgenc called templates. When you have extracted the files to your hard drive, right click on the file that makes tmpgenc run and select send to desktop as shortcut.
Who told you nero is better for encoding than tmpgenc, whoever it was they are lying.
