  1. I have tried this encoder and think it is as good as any, for making high quality dvd's (7000 bit rates). Am I the only one that likes it that much? It is very fast and easy to use, because it is a pluggin for premier. I think it has changed a lot from the last lsx pluggin that I tried. (v. 1.2) I have tried tmpg, (nearly all of the 2.5x versions) and the cinemacraft (cce-sp). This latest version which was released at the end of May or June, is as fast as cce and you don't have to go back and multiplex the audio with tmpgenc. You just export from adobe to the mpeg2 file that it creates. My comparison was only done on high bit rates. Has anyone else tried this latest version? What were your results with high bitrate mpegs for dvd production? Any comments would be much appreciated!

I too have had similar experiences with this making SVCDs. It is amazing that I have also screwed around with tmpgenc and CCE and now this simple program will make the best quality SVCDs to date. I am still experimenting and no pro so I will continue the experiments. Also you probably know not to install the MS6.5 update patch as it will downgrade your encoder and decrease your quality.

  3. What is the MS6.5 update patch? Why does it downgrade the encoder?

This plugin (with a little renaming of file extensions) works like a champ with Xmpeg 4.5 and is the quickest, least hassle way to create DVD or SVCD compliant mpeg files. I now use ripped DVD Mpeg2 files or Mpeg2 i-frame files captured with ATI's MMC from tuner or analog source and Xmpeg whether I making Divx 5.02, WMV 8, Mpeg 1 or Mpeg 2. If they could just tweak this plugin to keep everything in the YUV colorspace it would get even faster with Xmpeg and I would have found my holy grail of video encoding.

Ulead was too cheap to pay the royalties to ligos for the update patch. It is on Uleads website. Just dont install it.
