ok. heres the skinny. i used mpeg append to mess with an m2v file that i extracted. i was told by someone in this forum that i could change the bitrate of the mpeg so it could fit on a dvd-r.
here's the problem, i used mpeg append and it does not give me an option to change the bitrate, no options in the pull down menus or anything. i know it created two logs for dvdsp, but i looked in them to see if i would change the bitrate in the info files and found nothing.
am i missing something? or do i need to get a newer version of mpeg append or do i need to get another software that will do the bitrate conversion?
i am in desperate need of help!
please!

You can't just change a bitrate; you have to reencode it with something like Mediapipe (OS X) or MPack (OS 9). First export to something like Motion JPEG in quicktime, then reencode it.

Hi, erzimeriah ....
as I posted yesterday night ...
http://forum.vcdhelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=96441
If you rip a DVD ... use extractor to rip its content into 1 File for video and 1 file for audio!
If you already got segments of an mpv movie, I think you should use mpeg append and after that reencode the movie in MissingMpegTools to the desired bitrate to fit on a DVD-R with 4.3 GB.
There is no other opportunity to decrease the bitrate of a movie than reencoding! -
hey incredible you have been a savior, i was getting really frustrated.
thank you very much!
as per your above statements:
after i have an mpeg file that has been through mpeg append i take it into missingmpegtools and i can reencode it there and change ONLY the bitrate?
is this correct?
thanks again!

I am not sure if MMT works with mpeg-1 as a source file, but if your ripping and appending result is a mpv file than go ahead but be sure that also all values in MMT are entered the same as the original movie (mpv) contains (aspect ratio, FPS, etc...) -
ok i noticed that you are saying an mpv file and the files that i am working with are m2v files. are these gonna work or do i need to convert them?
