  2. Firstly, you can use VCDEasy without CDRDAO (i.e., it will do everything except burn the image which you can do with the newer version of Nero, CDRWin, others).

Secondly, you need a ASPI layer before you can burn with CDRDAO. I suggest that you download and install ForceASPI from http://www.doom9.org It will install Adapatec ASPI v4.6 and works well on both Win9x/ME and WinXP.

Why can't you use your burners ? are they not reconised ?. IF it is an ASPI problem use

    http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?cat=%2fOperating+System%2fM...=aspi_v470.exe

The download program comes with a Check file to check your ASPI installation, it will install the correct drivers for your system, which are usually 4.60, unless your system wants the 4.70 driver.

  4. It should be mentioned that many people have reported problems with the official Adaptec download.

If that doesn't work, try ForceASPI.

  5. I have the same problem as Benq, although I have installed ForceAspi.
Now I burn the image with Cdrwin. It works fine.

ForceASP has exactly the same driver as the Original Adaptec drivers, in fact if you read the files that come with it, it also explains how to FORCE and update.

  7. Perhaps. However, most people don't have a problem using ForceASPI while many people do have a problem with the Adaptec update.

    ForceASPI is more foolproof.

Well I dont think people here are fools, the readme.txt that comes with the original drivers, has all the informaion on install switches. /FORCE being one of them, I recomend the original drivers not some third party.

  9. Well, good for you.

I, however, recommend the package that installs exactly the same thing and works without complications -- which is ForceASPI.

Good for you also, its a shame your not able to get the original drivers to work, when most people do.

  11. You can keep your elitism and your attitude.

If the Adaptec update worked for everyone, there wouldn't be posts by people saying that VCDEasy / ASPI layer not working AFTER installing the Adaptec update would there?

If that is your personal preference then that's fine. However, I like to give simple solutions to people. ForceASPI simply works better / easier.
