    I have successfully converted Divx files to SVCD using Tmpgenc, and i am pleased with the results... But I have read so many threads saying how good the CCE encoder is, speed and quality wise.. I have tried the stand-alone version but the damned thing keeps freezing... Is there another way (apart from frame-serving.. I HATE frame serving) to use CCE?

    You can use DVD2SVCD for fully automated divx->svcd creation

    DVD2SVCD is very good - but it controls CCE by scripts - so if CCE is freezing by itself - then any other method is not likely to work
    Try and fix your crashing problem with CCE first
