So you can watch films from other regions then the region your player support. You might have a copy of a region 2 dvd and your player plays region 1. Then you have hack it, else you want be able to watch the region 2 movie.

  3. Thanks Helmut...
My DVD Player was set to region 2
I Changed it for ALL, that in fact, is one of the options provided in the DVD menu.
    I still don't understand REGION.
    What is region?
A DVD record in USA (region A) now readble in Europe (region B)?
    What is region all about?

  7. What does region stand for? It stands for movie industry/corporate greed. It stands for consumer oppression.

Should you free your player? If possible, yes. You paid for your dvd player. You paid for the dvds (what ever country they come from). So, you should be able to play the movies that you paid for in your dvd player.
