is Abit KX7 333 + 512 MB@333 worth the money to do caps (pinnacle PCTV) and convert ( TMPEG ) ?
or can i stick with the 512 mb@266 mhz and save the money to add 60gb more capturespace ?
thx for all answers ?

Tom,
For analog 'captures' (as stated by the PCTV) harddrive write speeds are your biggest bottleneck. A bigger hardrive will add more capturespace as you put it, but if you find you drop frames give some thought to a RAID system.
Extra memory will help in the editing process, but i have , from experimentation, found little difference in RAM when analog capturing.
For faster encode times either spend the $$$ on a better CPU or .... try the 'dark art' of overclocking .

thx for the fast replys
here in europe a KX7 costs 50 Euro more and 512 @ 333 costs 50 more
total = 100 euro = a nice maxtor 60gig@7200 rpm
But if that doesnt affect dropping frames with analog capture
i ll keep my KG7 and expand my diskspace to do less compressed caps

I didn't realize, that you wanted to change the MB as well.I'm here in Germany and the difference here between 512 MB 233 andd 333 is just 30 Euro.But on the other side, 60GB more HD will be the wiser decision, as the RAM speed at capture time doesn't really matter.My fisrt machine had 512 MB and had the same drop rate at 1GB with a much faster memory/CPU.So I'll go for the MAXTOR (I got 2 of them)
