Tosh 210e and (x)SVCD

I apologise is this has been cover before but I couldn't find anything on a search.

Has anyone had any luck with xsvcd on the Tosh 210e. I get momentary freezes when I produce one (via Ulead Movie Factory, TMPGenc 4000K)
bit rate)?

Hi, I've also got a Tosh 210e - what settings are you using i.e. Resolution, PAL/NTSC, Audio bitrate, CBR/VBR ?

Also do you get the usual out of sync audio on SVCD's ?

I am working in PAL

I have tried a bog standard SVCD 480x572 2520 Kbit CBR AUdio 224K

The Xsvcd was 720x572 4000K VBR (75% Quality) Audio 128K

I get the same problem with both. I don't think I have seen the audio sync problem.

(I have had a suggestion it may be a firmware issues so I have written to Toshiba)

Has anyone made progress on the audio sync problems encountered with SVCD's?. I have a Toshiba SD-1300 (paid good money for it) and desperately wanting a solution .... any suggestions?. Thanks.

I own a Toshiba SD-210E and have been bugged with the audio sync problem too. One solution offered to me was to use a program called Instant CD/DVD.

This worked fine on the first SVCD I created but I couldn't get it to accept other MPEG files after that. As Vob don't offer technical support to non-registered users I decided to stop using their product. Don't ask me what this program did differently from VCDEasy or Nero 'coz I don't know!! It did work... once anyway!! If anyone does know the answer to this I'd be delighted to hear from them.

The other solution would be to convert the MPEG-2 file to MPEG-1 using DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc (I'm assuming that it's MPEG you're working with). The only problem I've encountered with this method is that the picture isn't as smooth as the original SVCD. Picture quality is maintained as is sound however.

I've sent Toshiba an e-mail asking for a solution to the problem. If I get a reply I'll let you all know. Don't hold your breath...

Hi there Brael,

I have since solved all my problems with the Toshiba DVD player .... beacuse Toshiba were not interested, I took the player back to the shop; paid a few extra dollars and purchased a new Yamaha S520. This player is excellent !!!!; it plays everything and has been designed to play SVCD's. If I were you, I would do the same thing. I am very very disappointed with Toshiba and will never purchase a Toshiba Audio/Video product again !!!. Take care.
