help with VCD on Hitachi P305U

Has anyone managed to get a VCD working on this DVD player (Hitachi P305U)? In the compatability list it shows that CDR/CDR-W are not supported however VCD and miniDVD is supported... I'm new to this and was wondering how this is done if CDR's aren't supported?

I have the same model as yours, Hitachi P305U. It plays CD-RWs, but when you change tracks, it is very very very slow and sometimes fast. So I got rid of it and bought a Pioneer DV333 which plays CD-R/RWs. I made my own vcds, copy original vcds with no problem at all, any brand.
