What would be, if possible, the best way to convert a svcd/vcd to fit on a 64mb MMC card to be watched on a Pocket PC. So I can watch a film when out and about![]()

So you want some method of converting a 700Mb file to fit into 64Mb MMC card ?. If you find a codec to do that, let us know... We will all want it
-
You can fit a movie about max 100 min into 128MB Card with the divx codec (4.12 or divx5 codec) with good quality.
But you need some settings, change framerate, Audio
I have made a guide how to,but it is in german!
Take a look at it

with good quality.
Also the original post says 64Mb, so I guess you are saying he should now get a 128Mb MMC card ?, and lern German if he does not do so now -
I have a Movie Player on my Sony Clie (which uses the PalmOS) and it came with a software package called Picture Gear, which converts AVIs Mpegs etc to a special Palm OS format. Pretty cool. I use it to dump short clips etc to my PDA (ie 30min or so in size).
The Clie runs a resolution of 320x320 so the quality aint great, but its very entertaining.
Best Regards

Sorry but i have made the guide for some germans pocket pc sites.
But you can take a look at the pictures.Iám nit currently planing to translate this guide, because i have not much time yet!
With an 64MB multimedia card, its not possible to take a full movie on it with good quality, but a 128 MB is enough.
and yes the quality looks good, and the newest alpha player supports divx5 encoded movies, with B-frame support.
I am have a Casio EM500 machine, and it has enough power to play the files, at 320x240 full screen, and mono sound. But the framerate must be changed to the half size, when you have a Strong Arm machine it has enough power to play full framerate, and a resolution about 320x176 (16/9)
In my guide i use Virtual Dub to re-encode my divx movies but you cab also load standard mpeg1 files in Vitual Dub.
You can use some great filters,to made the image quality look better,at lower bitrates.
I usually use, a the divx 2 pass modus,so you can get lower file size and better quality.
For action movies a bitratze at 250 kb/S max is enough
And for the Audio use mono 32 kb/S (its enough)
The Image Qualitylooks really good,on the smale screens,no very less makkro blocks.
I dont know if somebodys has made a english guide, but i am a german,(Austria) we are all pocket movies fanats, and so a have made a guide and this takes me a lot of time, for best settings.
What pocket pc machine did you have.
Give me your email, and i´ll will send you a short test movie from the film
dripple X (XXX).
Or you can email me Jaspa21@gmx.at
I am also a beta tester form the pocket divx player,(thanks to gottahavit and marc pedro for the mips optimized version)
You can get the latest players from there

But i you dont want to buy a new SD oder MMC card, you can try Windoes _Media encoder7.1 to get the movie on your 64MB card and so you have a WMV file.
But that gives bad quality, because the microsoft encoder, does compress the files too much, and a lot of details are lsot than.
