    Is there a way to transfer any type of data other than DV avi to miniDV tapes as a backup storage device? Just a thought...

    you would have to have some sort of camcorder or DV VCR that would allow that, and I don't think any exist, but there really isn't any reason to do this because there are data backup tapes that do basically the same thing and hold more data... go to ebay or half.com and find one used...
