  2. Windows media player should view it. If Windows media playerdoesn't play it. You may have to install the codec that the avi was written for on your system. What kind of burning software do you use? Nero will convert your avi and then burn it to a vcd for you. That's the easiest way to do it. You can read the guides under convert or author to the left <<<<=========== for a way to do it with software you already have or how to with free programs.

I don't know how these windoze users get in here, but something should be done about that.

    www.3ivx.com
    www.divx.com
    mpeg4.jamby.net

I suggest 3ivx to play .avi (usually divx) files. Divx 5a2 is ok, and needed to play divx 5 material. DixOSX is out dated, but still very good and effective at what it does (OS X only) .

For 3ivx use Divx Doctor 2 to fix files the site should help

For Divx5 use their "fixing" program (but try Divx Doctor 2 first)

For DivOSX use Avi2Mov only when you cannot get Divx Doctor 2 to work.

Other than that all I can say is...see what you can get to work.

And a note .avi is not a file type, it is a container (like.mov) and can contain different video types. It is a piss poor container at that.
