  1. i downloaded some mpeg files and when i try to play them on windows media player i get, cannot play back file format is not supported i tryed quicktime and realplayer and got same thing but on one of them it played the sound and the length of video came up but no video, so are these mpeg messed up or is there anything i can do to them so they play? dont now anything about mpeg so any help would be appercaited

  2. Are they DivX? You probably need the codec for them, you can download it off almost every DivX site, very small file, 569kb. I had the same problem, the player would start with no picture but the sound is there and its being played.

  3. Have you tried playing it back using a DVD Software Playback ? especialy since you mentioned it was an MPG file, it might have been MPEG2, and that would explain why it didn't work on your playback programs.
