  4. I gotta go with Vegas also. In fact if you download Video Factory 2.0 for $60 you can update to Vegas 3.0 for $200 more. If you buy Vegas 3.0 by itself the downloadable version is $420! That's $160 savings for the same software plus you have Videofactory, too! Premiere for $600 or Vegas for $260- that's a no-brainer if you ask me.

I still use the free magazine version and I am happy with it, though the newest version has fine enhancements.

fredd, i was going to say the exact same thing! i got the 1.5 version of editstudio free with a mag a year ago(did you get it with pc plus as well?). then a few weeks ago i got editstudio 2.1 free with another. editstudio is the best editing program with loads of transitions, wipes etc. i also like it's timeline layer structure. most editing programs these days go for the storyboard approach which i'm not a fan of.
editstudio is also cheap at about 40 pounds sterling i think. but look around at your local newsagent's, and you might be able to pick up a free version with a magazine!

  7. Has anyone try their MPEG SX encoder? I wonder if it is as good as TMPGenc or CCE. Any take on this one?

    Hi Boss,

don't remember on which mag' I found it; I'm from France and even though we have a french edition of PC Plus, cover CDs are different.

    Kenneth,

AFAIK, MPEG XS is built on the MPEG SDK from Mainconcept, and according to what I read, it's among the best encoders.
