I have recently bought a new comp and am trying to capture from vhs. I have no problems with the video, but the audio is terrible quality. It seems to be too loud and is causing cracking and popping when people talk, but seems fine the rest of the time. I have tried lowering the volume in Virtualdub, and the volume control on the comp for both playback and record, but still no luck.
If someone can help me it would be greatly appreciated because the video is beautiful, but even after editing in cool edit i can still hear scratches and cracks.
Thanks

If possible, try a different soundcard. Assuming your connections are all good, thats the most likely culprit.

the problem must be in the moment of the capture . the volume of the record «line in» is too high. low the volume (line in).

I think i've figured it out. Just had to lower the quality and have it mono. Silly me.
