I am very new at this. I am overwhelmed with all the new lingo & terminology. Can anyone give me a real simple explanation of How to take a .avi file that was downloaded & turn it into a VCD that I can play on my DVD player? Is there one simple program that does it all? Is the .avi file ready to burn? Do I need to change the .avi file first into another format? Somebody please help, I will be very appreciative!!

  3. Greenpea,

Your best bet is to follow the guides on this site.

Avi files must be converted to VCD compliant mpeg-1 before you can burn it. I recommend you follow the Divx to VCD All-in-One guide in the convert section of this site. You will only need three programs and it is pretty easy to follow.
