  1. This isn't a question regarding burning a DVD-R in a regular CD-R drive. I know that isn't possible . Is it possible to put DVD quality on a CD-R/W that would be compatitble with a regular DVD player? I have a player that is compatible w/ DVDs,VCDs, but not SVCDs.If so, I know you would only be able to fit about 20 mins on it, but I would like to try Is this possible? Do I need any special instructions for the burning (I use Nero)?

  2. well ist of all you need to capture the program at either 720x480 or 704x480 at least 4000 bitrate, I use 704x480 ar 5000 bitrate, 2nd of all will your DVD player play bitrates that high, so far I fins only the daewoo 5700 or 5800, I understand some Sampo's do also. 2nd I always burn mine at a non complaint SVCD, I am sure you can burn yours at a non compliant VCD using NERO 5.5.X.X . The main problem still lies is if your DVD player will play it, I have tried mine on APEX machines, they all lock up same with Panasonic DVD players. Hope you can do it, the end result is just amazing, I have actually had everyone who have watched mine swear it was on a DVD-R not on a 15 cent CD-R.

  3. A complaint VCD? nope. If you use 720x480 and the highest bitrate you can use for the video and your clip will allow you can get it pretty close. I have made several 2 disc xVCD dvd-rips that you can't tell from the DVD.

  4. The weirdest thing happened. I burned a non compliant VCD with Nero. I used DV footage I had converted to DVD standard in TMPEGEnc. The player recognized it as a VCD, and the movie time clock began advancing. But there was no video or audio! Is wasn't like a black screen, It was the DVD screen you see when no disc is in the player. This isn't the standard rejection I get with SVCDs and xVCDs (spit out and no recognition). Anybody know what I should do? Should I try some DVD authoring s/w with my CD-R/Ws, or will this not work?

    -Thanks
