Can anyone tell me how the test PAL SVCD image on this site was created?

The reason I ask is that I downloaded it and burned it to a CD and it worked in my Wharfedale DVD-750. Every attempt I've made to write my own SVCD's have failed with the 'freeze after 4 seconds' problem.

Also can I confirm the contents to make sure it IS playing ok. I get

    - a title screen with a GNU logo
    - a clip of what looks like the first 5 minutes of Blue Streak - dubbed in German

Is this correct or are there more tracks?

    Thanks for your help

  3. correct, you should see a big animal which is actually a menu...

see also this topic for more information....

btw, if you had taken a look at the README.html in the download dir, you might have gotten the answer yourself

Thanks for that - I can't see a readme.html in the directory - are you looking at the HTTP site or the FTP site? (I can't access FTP at the moment)

The thread you mention talks about Top Gun but I definitely don't have that - it's Martin Lawrence in some action movie.

  5. well, the NTSC and PAL versions differ... anyway, if you see the GNU logo it's definitely the vcdimager made test svcd...

I should really re-build those discs with the latest vcdimager version... and maybe remux with bbmpeg in order to improve compatibility...

    Thanks for the input!

I've had a look around your site and this one. I have been able to write a working SVCD with vcdimager 0.6.2 - so that's a result.

But I wanted to use the menu features so I was trying 0.7.8 - but I keep getting stack dumps.

Still I've got lots of stuff to read now.

Thanks for your help and patience with a newbie
