  1. i have a problem ripping dvd with smartripper. it rip at .1x and that takes long time. i notice when smartripper start up it said the following:

    ASPI adapter available

    try to unlock drive

no aspi access to this drive

    switch to WinIO

so i figure that it might be the no aspi access to the drive. can anyone helps.... what is DMA? i'm running win xp how can i check to see if it turn on? thanks

  2. neither Windows 2000 nor XP comes with an aspi layer, but you can d/l one and install, go to adaptec.com and get the free 4.6 layer. I use DVD Decryptor myself and sometimes Smart Ripper under Windows 2000 witn no problems.

  3. i isntalled the aspi layer 4.71 from adaptec. we install using the command xxx/xx/install.bat xp32 right? i'm using window xp with amd 1800+ processor...still dont understand why this doesnt work...i tried to use many different ripper and it doesnt seem to work. Also does this have anything to do with installing xp as a standard PC installation? thanks

  5. Uninstall ASPI 4.7

    Get ASPI 4.6 instead.

  7. Find the Adaptec 4.6 ASPI layer at:

    http://www.clonead.co.uk/

Click on the "latest downloads" button on the first page...
Then at the bottom of the appearing page, click on the link for the layer.
