i am using an AIW card and the MMC 7.5 to capture with but when trying to capture from VHS i am getting a 38% dropped frame rate and it is making it look very slow and jumpy
i am happy with the quality apart from the dropped frames
I am capturing in PAL so am using a 25 frame rate.
Any suggestions on how i can stop dropping so many frames?
    any help would be appreciated

  3. I have the same card but I use Virtualdup and it drops nothing. I capture vhs tapes 2 hours at a time with 0 drop frames. My computer runs only 600 mhz 384 mram and 20 gig hard drive for capture use only. It is about 14 gig for two hours and I use Tmpgenc to encode for vcd. I tried to use Kwag's 120 minute template but it always is a little over 800 MBs. So I do two cds for every VHS tape.

  5. Same thing happened to me when I was trying to capture, I was loosing 5 frames per second , I enabled DMA on my hard drive and now I loose zero no matter how long I capture.

  7. Do an MPEG "I" Frames Only capture and see if you are still dropping frames. Normally I Frame captures are a lot less sore on system resources.

i have this card also and have a strange problem like yours. i use mmc7.6 and TV and recorde from TV jsut as tests. i have tried EVERY template and even at the highest setting 720x480 48k max bitrate etc it records FINE BUT right at the beginnning it says 25% frame drop then it rapidly goes to <1% and plays fine. this happens about 80% of the time.. other times it drops no frames.. it does this at the lowest setting also 120x120 or what ever it is. anyone know y this happens.. i got a 2000+ 512 ddr 120gig RAID stripe XP i can live with it since it has no affect on the mpg jsut an anoyence
