  1. Ok, I have a Dazzel Digital Video Creator 80 (USB) tha tI use to capture video from my SONY Digital 8 Handycam. I just don't see the quality of capture from tape to PC as I'd like. Is this a result of a low end capture card? I have a machine that is ready to rip some home DVD's, but I am not getting a very good picture when I capture the video.

PC Specs - 2Ghz, 768RAM, 80Gig Harddrive... so teh power is there, it must be the Dazzel 80 I am using. Am I correct in assuming this is my problem? If so, can someone point me to a few better cards that will capture at a higher quality than this thing. Thanks...

In the meantime, I'll be over in teh "capture card" section of this web!!!

Well , most anything is better than a USB capture device - of you have the time, hard disk space and inclination you could use a cheap Brooktree 8x8 based capture card or better still a DV capture card to make use of the firewire port on your Digital 8 camera
if you already own some DV capable software then get a cheap-o DV card, only if you have no software that's DV capable ( Mediastudio, Pinnacle DV studio or Premiere) should you get a more expensive card , they usually come with some of the above mentioned software.
DV gives a nice clean, clear picture but it's fairly disk intensive running around ( I believe ) 15GB / hour
