  1. I know I mispell words a lot, and that is a pet peave of some people, so I am not perfect.

But, my pet peaves are the people who sign up, and thier first post is along the line of: "How do I create a VCD?". I have started and encourage everyone else to put "Go to this site and look under 'How To':", then post the address for VCDhelp.com.

Another pet peave is when a person posts with not only no punctuation, but with words missing and blantly mispelled words. Such as "can u helpme plz micro canot quicktim vcd ". At least give everyone else an idea of what you are trying to do. All I see it that this person wants help and cries a lot.

Third pet peave. "Plz (or please) help" is not a topic. "Need help with burning with Nero", "Having problems with TMPGEnc", etc. - these are topics. I will no longer answer or even look at a topic that says just "Plz help" or "Need help plz".

Fourth pet peave. Post your question once. I can understand reposting by accident, but more then 3 times is out of line. No one is responding to your post because A - they don't understand what you are saying, or B. - they have not had time to see the post and respond. This forum has enough problems without people posting the same thing over and over because they want quick answers.

Sorry to be such a whiner, but feel free to post your pet peaves here also. Maybe then people will get the idea.

no, I really don't call it whining. There's a lot of people that give their newsbreak headline name "Pleeeaze" and so on. It makes it harder for keyword searching later. Some questions under some of these titles are fine but when I do a search and come across a "Pleeeaze", I don't know if I will have a chance of finding what I need or be wasting my time.

  3. Yeah everyone wants to learn the quick way and ask for someone to tell them step by step but as a point the faqs on here are way to infomative to pass up well if its what your looking for.But as for the bad spelling it happens .Now i know not everyone that spells bad is from a different country but you got to remeber that alot of people use this site like people from different countries and for there lack of this not being a common language for them i think they do pretty good.
This is proboly a ice cream induced thought so i can not take no control for the above statment. :P

  5. I can understand mispelled words occasionally, because I do it myself.

It's the mispelled words with no punctuation in a sentence which makes very little, if any, sense. It's usually the people who speak English as a primary language that do it, too. In addition to that, it's also questions that are answered in the "How To" section. Stuff like: "convert mpg, need help plz, :cry". The rest of the time is spent trying to figure out what this person is trying to do, when all they are trying to accomplish is making an uncompressed avi into mpg. It's just annoying!

And quit crying over not being able to convert and avi to mpg, unless it's of your dead father! Be a man (unless you're a woman, then cry all you want)! I am tempted everytime I see someone use to start calling them names. Do you cry everytime something doesn't work? If you do, then I suggest you see a psychiatrist, because you have emotional problems, normally, creating VCD's is not something that people cry over.

The people who annoy you most never seem to read these sorts of topics.

  7. The people who annoy me are usually the ones who post one or two times, then leave when no one wants to hand-guide them through creating a VCD.

  8. Sounds like there should be a good book on the topic - maybe it's time for marcus or someone author one? Then we could all just say RTFM

  9. Ok, I just reached my boiling point too. Maybe the main page needs a bigger pointer to the Newbie section or that when they sign up they have to have read the Newbie page?

  10. A guide would be great, but I doubt it would be read. Actually, looking at the new topics, it looks as if things have improved. But, to make it so that things do get better, here's a couple of tips to follow:

1 - Do not answer any topics that say only "Plz help","need help", or such. Topics need to have something that relates to the problem, such as "plz help w/TMPGEnc" or "need help w/audio".

2 - Do not answer simple questions that are outlined in the "How To" section, such as how to make an avi into a mpg. If they are having trouble after using the "How To" section, then it's fine to answer. Otherwise, the only answer should be a link to the "How To" section. The forum is to help people who have problem that the "How To" section is unable to solve.

3 - If english is your primary language, then please use it. I have seen better posts from people who have english as a secondary language then by those with it as a primary. I don't expect every word spelled correctly, nor every sentence punctuated correctly, but at least make an effort to do so. The better the information is presented, the easier it is to give a response.

4 - On post at a time, and no hijacking posts. It's really annoying when somone keeps asking the same question over and over because they didn't get an immediate response. It will be even more annoying when no one posts a response because you have posted the same question over and over. And, just because you did not get your post answered, it does not mean that you have the right to post your question inside a topic that does not pertain to you.

Well, that's all I have for now... any one else?

And enough of the lazyass-couchpotato-mooch posts like "whats the best ..."

The best <whatever> is what YOU think is the best. What's best for one person may be total crap for another. If you don't have the initiative to experiment on your own, and just want somebody else to do the work for you, then you should not be here.
