    HMM BOTH DIRTY 4 LETTER WORDS

    divx = mpeg4 hack (one and the same - nearly !)

    In best to worst QUALITY ->>>> mpeg2 , mpeg1, mpeg4

    So before the question even gets asked :

    Making VCD from a divx (mpeg4) is exercise in futility .Apart from a few filters you CANNOT improve on the source . PERIOD !

    divx advantage = possible to fit one $hitty quality movie on 1 CD
    mpeg 1 advantage = 2 CD per movie, better and most DVD will play the Video CD format
    mpeg2 advantage = best quality of the 3 , takes a lot of space to achieve quality though. multi sound tracks
