spiderman is already number 6 on the all-time top box office hits. That's pretty impressive. after this last weekend its about to bump Jurassic Park and take the 5th position. It just needs to make another 2 million to bump Jurassic Park off its perch.

the new star wars is at the 41st position and sales are already dropping off for it, so I'm curious how far it will make it up the charts.

it is interesting to note that other then 2 movies all the rest on the lists are held by movies made after 1993, 3 of which are after 2000, so I am curious how the movie companies are being damaged, unless its because they are loosing money on the shitty movies that they try to pass off on us as great.

if ya all want to check out a bigger list of top movies and check weekend money makers check out:

  2. is there anyway to find out how many ACTUAL PEOPLE saw the movie, instead of the money made by these movies? i think that would be a more telling stat, considering that movie ticket prices increase at a hellish rate.

yeah I know, I always wondered why they want by money instead of tickets sold. They adjust the older movies to compensate things, but still it would be better if they just posted how many tickets sold.

I personally don't know if there is anyway to find out that, I as well would like to know.

  4. I would also like to see how many tickets were sold, and not how much money was made. The truth is, Hollywood only judges a movie to be great by the amount of money it brings in, rather then by the fanbase it creates. If it was based on how many tickets were sold, very few (if any) of the recent movies would even be in the top ten.

I also would like to point out that Star Wars IV, V, & VI were rereleased in 1997, right before Episode I came out. The total of money made from the original screening, plus that of the 1997 "Special Edition" screenings are added together on the list.

I remeber hearing somewhere that after inflation, Gone in the Wind would be the #1 best selling movie of all time.

  6. it was quite a while back. but i remember hearing that for the first public showing of gone with the wind, they actually locked the theater doors and made the audience watch it after the feature presentation was done.. from what i remember it came from a reputable source.. weird and quirky fact... dont quote me on the fact part though. heh
