  1. i downloaded a couple of avi full length movies. i have audio but NO video, i have tried divxfix, mpeg mediator, and all the other guides on this site and still no video. does anyone have a direction to point me in?

  3. I have a similar problem. I can see the video but no audio. What program did you play it with? I know that realplayer isn't the best program to open avi files with so if you're using realplayer, try something else. Most avi are encoded using Divx so download that codec.

    I don't know if this will work in other version of Windows but with Win XP, I can select and right click at the file in question, select 'Properties' Then click on Summary tab and you can find out what kind of codec is used for audio and video. It has helped me with mystery avi file that wouldn't play properly.

    Try that and if you don't know what codec is being reported in Properties, post back here and someone might know what kind of codec and where to download the codec.
