I want to capture TV and VHS to my Laptop, but need to know what card I can use. Either has to be USB or PCMCIA? ANy info out there on this? My machine is pretty healthy.

There are a few USB TV Tuners that are specifically meant for laptop use, but capturing AVI through USB is a strict NO NO! So don't even try it unless you just want to capture for viewing only on the laptop.
The only other solution is a USB MPEG-1 Encoder card such as the Dazzle DVC I. If all you want to do is capture video and then either burn from you laptop or send to a desktop for later editing/burning, etc.....
If you want to watch TV with the Dazzle then that might be a problem seeing as it only displays in Preview mode and never in Overlay.
