  1. OK, I made a soundboard and have just been holding it up to the speaker to use it. This way sucks of course. Anyone know any other ways to do this? Is there a way to do these calls right off the computer and have the person on the other end hear the sound from my computer through the phone line? Also, what is the best way to record it? Any ideas?

I never thought prank calls were funny. Plus with *69 and caller id they can easily find who you are. My advice, find more productive forms of entertainment.

  5. All of that is beside the point, I'm just asking about the technical aspect. By the way, have you ever heard of call block (*67)?

Does that stop *69 from being used? I have seen telephone recorders that attach to the speaker end of a phone allowing for recording. They have them at Radio Shack.

  7. Actually you really cant block any phone call becuse the telephone company has a service that will trace the phone number no matter what granted there is a small fee for using it but if someone is pranking you they can be busted for phone herassment.

  8. If you dont want to get caught making phone calls I recommend buying one of those prepaid mobiles where you dont have to put any personal details down.

  9. Well, let's just say that based on what my intended purpose is, I'm not worried about having my call traced, or possibly being charged with harassment.

As far as playing audio that is on my computer through the phone, and recording it though, does anyone have any input on that topic?

Clearly that's not what I'm looking for here. Anyone else know anything about this?

Hey, you ask about recording and that's the only way to recode with decent quality. Unless you want to hold a microphone up to the phone while you talk.

Waste a little more time explaining how mature you are...

  15. you can open up a cheap phone, undo the mic wires, then either hardwire it to a connection cable, or put a 1/8 inch jack on it so you can plug in a line output from the computer to the mic wires on the phone. then you've got to find the right output level so your samples can be heard clearly...the Radio Shack suction-cup mic wouldn't work that way, since you take the mic out of the phone, you'll only pick up the speaker.

It was only a suggestion. He never told you to do it, so why call him a jerkoff?

  18. Because I am pissed off, and now I have to buy and install a new soundcard, and it was all his idea. **** him. And you.

  20. Artie,

Clearly you have no idea of what you are doing so why not just give it up as a bad job and stop calling others that are trying to help you just because YOU fucked something up.

I'll make this easy for you.

Get an answering machine and set it recording before you make the call.....

If it won't let you start recording then you will have to set the recorder up and phone your number up to activate the recording process.

Then play the resulting tape into your pc through your new soundcard (coz YOU fucked up your old one...) and use something like Cool Edit 2000 to cut and edit out all the bits you dont want.

Don't forget to turn the volume down on the recorder or you'll get feedback.
You do know what that is don't you...Yes...Good....

And exactly where in twonabomber's post did he tell you anything that would **** up your soundcard?

If you went and soldered it straight to your board then you are a fool.....

He said hardwire it to a connection cable not to the PCB.

  23. don't blame me...at worst, all you should have destroyed was a cheap phone. what did you do, hook it directly to the phone line? the one i made works...

boy, try to help someone out... maybe the broken soundcard was just "karma," like you're not cut out for the prank calls business...

  25. really, i'm curious...did you open the phone up, or what? if you got inside the phone, decided that maybe you didn't know what you were doing, and went on anyway, that's not my fault...next time, i'll send you a schematic, in big, bold print, so your little mind won't get confused...

You are as bad as a hacker with your trickery in advising people to break certain parts of their computers. **** YOU!

Umm im not sure were you got your definition of a hacker (damn media) but the true definition of a hacker is not malacious that would be a cracker you are thinking of.And a little advice dont take under a project unless you know some back ground on the subject you can check your library or one of the many online book stores for a book about electronics so before you take some advice to heart check it out before you set to do the job Twonabomber more than likely has some knowledge of this and thats how he got his to work right.
This is proboly a ice cream induced thought so i can not take no control for the above statment. :P
