  1. OK i ripped this DVD (don't worry this isn't a question about rippin) and the first disc turned out fine however the second disc is to large to fit on a CD, since i want re-ripping it to be my last option i was wondering how i could reencode the mpg file spit out by tmpeg. It will not open in tmpeg or AVIDub. Is there some special program i could use?

  2. There is a tool ReMPEG for you to do this. I don't know how good it is. If you post results after trying, it will be good knowledge for everyone here.

One way to do it is to use DVD2AVI. This will produce a d2v (video) file and an mpa (audio) file. These will load into TMPGenc.

Depending on how much too big the mpg is, you could demultiplex using TMPGenc's mpeg tools. Then you could convert the audio part from 224 to 128, and multiplex. This would have to be burned as a non-compliant SVCD, but that should be no problem.

Banjazzer, your idea is best however the resulting file will still be svcd compliant. Svcd supports anywhere from 32kbits to 384kbits. Only vcd is locked at 224kbits.

  6. well the sound file is actually suprisingly small, I figured out that if i left it out all together then i would only save like a hundred megs. You see, accidentally I ancoded the movie with Constant Quality at 100%. This gave me a second disc of about 1200 megabytes. It is great quality however i don't want it that big. if figure out that if i were to encode it to fit on the disc with CBR i would use about 1700 kbit/sec . Oh well, it doesn't matter i am reripping the whole thing (acutally i only have to reencode it because of the fact that i still have all of the vob files and it is already frameserved, should end about 4 AM.

    Thanks anyways
