  1. I've recently started converting DVD's to SVCD's using DVD2SVCD.
This little program spits out a couple of bin/cue files for me to burn with nero and should be fool proof.

My problem is they word find on the computer with a software svcd player (WinDVD) but audio lags by a fraction of a second when played on my DVD player. I have had success with one conversion but didn't change any settings so I don't know how it worked. anyone have any ideas or can suggest an easier way of converting?.... wouldn't mind AC3 soundtrack too but that's another topic.

Have you read the DVD2SVCD FAQ yet because it addresses sync issues? If used properly sync problems with DVD2SVCD are very rare.
Read here and see if it solves your problem...

AC3 is not possible in vcd or svcd. Bbmpeg can actually multiplex and ac3 and mpg file but I doubt there is a single dvd player which could play it. There is also multichannel mpeg audio available for svcd which preserves the 5.1 channels and is as good as Dolby Digital but if you want info on that just do a forum search, its been discussed literally about 100 times. Practically speaking the best possible audio you can achieve on a vcd or svcd is a dolby surround encoded stereo signal which can be decoded into Dolby Surround or Dolby Prologic I or II depending on your reciever.

You could read the FAQ or you could start burning your bin/cue with CDRWin. Im not saying that NERO is the reasson your having sync probs. I just know I used to have alot of sync probs and blurry video till I switched to CDRWin, not NERO.

    Just a thought

  4. Thanks for the help. I will do a search for dolby surround.

I found my problem. For some reason my dvd/svcd player does not like the way dvd2svcd makes a menu so I took that off and now all my movies audio works. That'll teach me for trying to be smart.
