  1. So what can I use for mpeg2 cutting? I think i have been through everything in the book Tmpg & powervcr each leave a few secs after where it was supposed to cut. I cant use bbmpeg because it relies on time vs the actual video for cutting reference. I couldnt get m2 or nanopeg to seek properly (am i doing something wrong?) iFilmEdit & My Flix (i think thats what i was called) dont support mpeg2. So the only one im left with, is Womble MPEG2VCR. This one ive actually had a little bit of luck with. But its so BUGGY! Is it supposed to crash when i drag and drop the clip i copied from the clipboard to the work area? And is it supposed to take more time to start the further into the movie i get? (at least it seems that way). Example, say i got 3 sections of video to crop. The first would begin as soon as i clicked record. The 2nd would take about 1 min to start, and the last 3? Is it actually "seeking" to that point in the movie, and am i just impatient or what? Oh, and im using 3.10. And i know i should probably use 3.11, but i've looked.

Anyone got any ideas? I was just thinking, and im pretty surprised ATI doesnt have an mpeg cutter built into MMC. How do they expect you to edit the video you capture with their card?

Anyway, please let me know if anyone has any ideas. And please dont suggest premire I dont feel like buying a gigantic manual. Thanks

M2 Edit, and Womble are main products for what your looking for.

I personally use M2 Edit for direct Mpeg2 editting.

I also use DVD2Avi/VFAPI to make a pointer file, import/edit/export with Adobe products.

Since your having seeking problems, this is usually the cause of slow/frequent drive access. I run three drives in my set up, one system, one capture, and one scratch.

IDE drives take a hit in the simultamous read/write department.

  3. Here is what I do with my mpeg2 capture files using TMPGenc. First use the "Merge & Cut" and select "MPEG-2 Super VideoCD (VBR)" profile; load your mpeg2 clip and enter a new file name, then click "run". When finished, you remove the original file and load this new file to the main window. Now you can scroll easily and mark the cutting points. Then follow the same steps to have the final cut(s), and possibly merge all the cuts to one file.
