I am confused and the more I read the more I am .maybe stupid question below but it does boggle my mind.

I have lots of videocam (8 and Hi 8 , some Ntsc others Pal ) tapes that I like to put on CD for safe keeping and be playable from it.

Transfering to DV (Dazzle) is no problem but putting those on a CD , well you know, no room but I want to keep the quality as much as possible

every clip is around 1 minute ( lots of them and fast action )

now my question is : Do I need to lets say change the Pal to NTSC or vice versa or is that only needed if I want to make SVCD or DVD playable on standalone players to a tv ? (accordign were they are going to be played)

If I only want to keep them on cd's ( whatever format) to be played on the pc but connect a tv screen to the tv out of the pc do I need to convert too (Pal/Ntsc depending on where I am at the time ) ?

If to be played on PC alone what would be the most uniform format ( svcd/dvd) if not all PC's have DVD players installed ?

putting them back on tape is outdated I guess but might be needed

I like the DVD concept because of the menu I can use directly on the pc-screen

any advice and tips greatly appreciated.

thanks
