  1. SVCD audio problems with Pioneer-444.

I created SVCD using TMPGEnc and VCDEasy as SVCD NTSCfilm. When I play it on my Pioneer-444, audio is choppy. It plays well on my computer.
I decided to create VCD out of the same AVI. Pioneer plays it well both video and audio, but video quality is degraded.

    Please help with SVCD audio.

I have the Pioneer DV-444 and have no problems with SVCDs.
Make sure that whatever encoder you use, that the video bitrate does not exceed 2496, as I read somewhere that it doesn't like 2520. Have'nt tested it personally so can't confirm this.
    Hope this helps

I know you said the picture was fine, but one of the symptoms of a bitrate being too high is choppy sound, and that's why I suggested it.
The only other thing I can think of is checking the frequency of the audio (DV-444 plays 44.1KHz and 48KHz on SVCD) and the bitrate of the audio, to make sure they're compliant.

Right, just gone back to read your first post more carefully, and seen that you are creating an NTSC film file. Never tried one of them as an SVCD, and I don't think there is a standard for it as one either. Only VCDs can be done this way, as the frame rate is altered (i.e. not 25 or 29.997fps) I think it's 23.something. That would explain why your audio is jumping - it's trying to remain in sync with the picture.

I think you'll either have to do a VCD as NTSC film, or just encode at standard PAL or NTSC framerate if you want it as an SVCD. I am however open to correction!
