I have the same problem. I have an Apex 1500, but it also happens on my buddy's Sony.
This was driving me nuts on "We were Soldiers". I ended up bringing it into Virtual Dub and vaving off the audio as a Wav. Then I went into TMPGenc and did a simple multiplex using the original file as the video and the WAV file from VDub as the Audio. Came out good. Thats the only time I tried it though. Don't think it made any difference as far as sync goes, but I also brought the file into Sound Forge and removed that nasty buzzing noise. However, you could skip this step if the audio sounds good and is just out of sync.
Anyhow, its worth a shot....only take you about 15 mins. to test it out.
