  1. Hello... I am having a problem with the CD Burner I just bought. Please excuse me if I am missing something obvious here, as this is my first time using a CD Burner.

I bought a Plextor 24/10/40 and I set it to slave on Secondary IDE (with my CD/DVD rom as master).

I can burn CD's, but after I burn them for some reason my system doesn't recognize that I just put files on them. I have tried burning several DATA CD's and after I take the CD out and place it into my other drive to read, it never see's anything on the CD. It will usually just give me the "Insert DISK" popup as if there wasn't a CD in the drive to begin with.

I have found out that after a REBOOT, I am able to read the CD fine. Am I missing something here? The software that came with the drive is Nero 5.

  2. I believe your problem is with Nero itself. I've got the same problem. Actually, I've got a bunch of other issues with Nero, this is just one of them. I haven't found a work-around yet. Just live with the hassle of having to reboot after writing a disc. If others have a solution, I'd like to hear of it.

  3. Hmm...

I found this on the web after doing a search. Is it possible this was a bug and is fixed in a future release or sp?

Bugfix: mode 2 track could not be read after writing under Win 2000, only after reboot or CD-Info!

I am using XP, but maybe this would apply to that too? Anyone know?

I had this problem on WinXP @ Nero 5.5.6.4., just update Nero. Currently I'm using 5.5.7.2. and not having problems. There are some newer versions out, but I haven't updated yet as everything is working fine.
