any mpeg encoder other than tmpgenc????

i have been using tmpgenc for a while but for some reason it does not work anymore. i even deleted it and redownloaded but it didnt help. does anyone have any other programs they can reccomend? also, the original file is an mpeg and not an avi. i am looking for a free or inexpensive program but i havent been able to find any. thanks for any help.

Have you tried bbmpg (should be on Tools page) Its the only other free one I know of.

Otherwise for ones you buy try either CCE or Panasonic MPEG encoder.

You say TMPGEnc does not work any more. What happens when you try using it? Maybe we can fix it.

every time i start to encode something with tmpgenc it encodes for a few seconds and then says "this program has performed an illegal operation and will shut down". i have no idea why because it just started doing this out of nowhere. i had been using the program fine for about 6 months now.

Sounds like a system file got corrupted - try re-installing your operating system. Probably a DLL that TMPG is using or it could be a pending hardware problem in your PC - like a bad RAM Location.

how do i reinstall my operating system?

Run the "Setup.exe" file on your Windows CD and follow the instructions.
