  1. I have a VCD which runs perfectly on a stand-alone player but won't run on a computer. Using CDRWin I can see that there are two tracks on a single session but I can't seem to be able to extract the main movie file out of the CD. I've tried Nero and CDRWin without success. The MPEGAV directory on the CD is shown empty.

I want to be able to play this VCD on my computer, can anyone please help me?

    Thanks for any help.

I would try browsing the CD in another fileeditor than Windows Explorer.. try Windows Commander... if that one can't browse the files or copy the dat files to another place on the HD.. then you have a problem with the CD.

Windows commande ris a shareware program... so you need not to pay...really.
    Thanx/

  4. I already tried looking for the *.dat file, it's not there, even with "show all files" turned on and "hide extension of known file types" turned off. The CD works perfectly on a standalone player (Sony). I've also tried to run it on a Win 98 system without luck.

I can extract the second track (the 547 MB one) as a .bin file using CDRWin and CloneCD recognises the second track as video but I can't do anything with the image I extract. WinImage won't open it.

    Please help,

    Thanks

  5. CD Mage, IsoBuster or VCDGear (in RAW mode) will work.

  6. If you've extracted it to a CUE/BIN image, you can use VCDGear on that. Or, you could always try using VCDXRIP (one of the proggies in the VCDImager package).

  7. Install the latest version of the Microsoft Media Player on your computer and open the file avseq001.dat or something like that located on the MPEGAV directory on the CD.

Otherwise, if you wish to extract the MPEG file from the DAT you can use VCDGear or MPEGTools to do so.

  8. Sorry guys, just got back today. I was outta town on work.

I downloaded VCDGear and it works great!! I have finally managed to extract the video file as .dat from the raw bin/cue image of the second track and then convert it to .mpg and finally to a VCD with Nero.

    It's perfect.

Thanks guys, you've been lifesavers, :D

    regards,

    Amit
