Is there any speical type of CDR or CDRW that allows you to play VCD's on a DVD player which isn't suppose to play VCD's?

If a DVD player isn't designed to play VCDs, then no media in the world is going to help you.
Most DVD players will have VCD playback compatibility though.
Some aren't designed to read CD-R/W media though and you may have to experiment with different brands. CD-RW can often help. Otherwise, I suggest you read the DVD compatibility list: http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php
