VSDC Newbie Question

Hello all,
we're doing a highlight video for our son's soccer season, and we're having glitch issue on every video, it has to be a simple fix that we're missing.
On each clip, we broke the video, inserted a 'snapshot' for the freeze frame, added a few flashing highlight circles, and continued with the video. But coming out of each 'snapshot' the video skips, almost one sec, so when watching in full speed it looks really choppy. The attached image shows my layers and I dimensioned where the skip is occurring. Any help on why this is happening and how to fix it is greatly appreciated.
