Here goes!

I just built a new system.

1.4 Mhz CPU
100 Gig Hard Drive
CD/RW 32x/12x/48x
ATI Radeon 64Mb 8500DV
256 Mb DDR Ram

In the past, I've been video recording with a Hi8 camcorder. I now would like to capture all my video from the camcorder to a VCD, SVCD, or DVD to my hard drive and than burn it on my CD/RW. What capturing should I use? VCD, SVCD or DVD?

I have Ulead Video Studio 5 for capturing my video and for burning, I am using Nero with the MP3 and MPEG2 codec plug-ins.

What settings should I use to capture my videos from my camcorder, cable TV, and Directv?

What settings should I use to burn using my CD/RW?

When capturing using Ulead Video Studio 5 from my camcorder, I've noticed that under the "Video Decoder Settings" it detects lines of 525. So my question is, what frame settings should I be using to get the best quality video?

I've captured a 3 minute video from my camcorder at:

MPEG Files
24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
(MPEG-2)
Video Data Rate variable Kbps
Audio Bit Rate 256 Kbps
Layer 2, 48 kHz, Stereo

Should I capture the video in MPEG2 or AVI?

When capturing analog video should use the highest frame settings?

Because, when I try to burn it, someone told me that it convert the video to a lower frame setting.

Any suggestions on capturing and burning a video from Analog Camcorder, Cable TV, and Directv would be greatly appreciated.

NOTE: All I want to do is to capture and burn the best quality videos from my camcorder, cable TV, and Directv.

Thanks.
