I've just bought a Pioneer DV-350 as all the info suggested that it will play svcd and xsvcd formats.
Although it plays vcds superbly it refuses to play svcds at all. They show as vcd's on the display but play with a blue screen. I'm using the same brand cdr as the vcds, it can output both as NTSC and PAL, my tv can play both a PAL and NTSC picture, but i'm still having no luck at all.
The films (10 of them) were .bins that i burnt in toast as disc images-i know these same files have worked for other friends in the USA (burnt in exactly the same way with the same files).
Has Pioneer removed SVCD playback from the Euro/UK model of this or is there something apart from inserting the disc and pressing play i have to do?

don't know about the player but did u ask if it woul play svcd when you bought it. if you were lead to beleive it did and it does not, return it under sale of goods act as 'no fit fo the purpose' and buy another make.

I can swap it if i want but it has great vcd and good audio playback (and i got a good deal) but just wondered if anyone else had managed to get it to work as all the info on the player suggests that i should be able to view svcds on it.

If anyone from the UK is interested-i took the pioneer back and found out (with the help of a more knowlegeable salesman) that a lot of UK models are made multi-region but often at the expense of the svcd feature (as happened in this case
