  1. All Dazzle DVC-USB owners,

    There is a 10MB update for MovieStar on Dazzle's website.

    v4.22 -> v4.23

    Does anyone know if this fixes MovieStar's problem with making compliant long-length VideoCD MPGs?

  2. Actually, there is a MovieStar 4.24 patch also. I have links on my website for the full 4.21 download and the patches that make it work with Windows XP. The url is http://www.prothero.dhs.org/moviestar/

    And the answer to your question... it fixes some VCD problems but not all. Mostly it fixes the "Produce" bugs. The bug fix I've been waiting for is the audio buffer. It still studders on my standalone DVD player if I don't re-encode.

  3. There used to be a demux remux method for Dazzle caps, but I've found that just using TMPGEnc MPEG editing tool and just cutting the entire thing, I don't mean deleting the entire clip, I mean saying the beginning is it a 0 and the end is at xxxx [where xxxx is the actual end of the clip] and set the stream to MPEG-1 VCD standard create an output file and run the editor.

    TMPGEnc will take the video and audio separately and then put them together while providing enough buffer for the audio clip and the video clip.

    This will allow you to capture Dazzle VCD and XVCD streams without having to re-encode or demux/remux after the fact.

  4. Thanks for the suggestion. I thought I've tried just clipping and joining segments using the VCD setting in TMPGEnc to fix the audio buffer problem; but I'll have to give it another try since it works for you.

    Since I've been having to re-encode anyways, I just capture at 352x480 with my Matrox G400 and then use the deinterlace and resize filters in VirtualDub while frame serving to TMPGEnc to be encoded to VCD.

    The quality is much better than the Dazzle captures since it captures in AVI format; but the encoding time is a pain and slows down the archiving of TV shows where I'm not as picky about the mpeg artifacts. It would be a nice option to use the Dazzle DVC for this purpose if I don't have to re-encode.
