  1. Hi everybody,

I'm converting DIVX to SVCD so I can watch them on my DVD player (pioneer DV-343).

The problem that I have is the following:

the ratio's of the original DIVX files are:
    576*304 (1.8947 to 1)
    465*240 (2.4 to 1)
    640*272 (2.3529 to 1)
    512*288 (1.778 to 1)

when I convert these to SVCD (using virtualdub to extract the sound and TMPGEnc to do the conversion) I get movies which on my TV (4:3) are only half the size ofthe screen or less, which makes perfect sense:

    a ratio of 2,4 to 1 on 480*480 will give a movie of 480*200.
    a ratio of 1.8947 to 1: 480*253
    a ratio of 2.3529 to 1: 480*204
    a ratio of 1.778 to 1: 480*270

My question is: what are the best settings when I convert these movies to SVCD? A movie of 204 high is not very pleasant to watch :)

I can stretch the movie vertically, this will make all things thinner and taller but makes the viewing more pleasant, can you give me suggestions for the best settings (prefferably settings which keep the persons and object look normal)?

If you need more info just ask.

    all help is appreciated,

    thanks,

    Sven

under the advanced settings, make sure you set the video arrange method(I think that's what it's called) to full screen keep aspect ratio.
    that should do the trick
